Company Considers Strategic Fleet Divestment

Norway based offshore wind vessel owner Edda Wind is exploring the sale of its offshore wind service vessel fleet.

The company disclosed that it has signed potential agreements covering several service operation vessels (SOVs) and commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs). The agreements could lead to a full sale of the fleet if all conditions are met.

Several buyers are involved in the discussions. The company has not yet confirmed a final transaction.

North Star and Navigare Linked to the Deal

The proposed transaction would divide the fleet between two buyers.

UK offshore vessel operator North Star has signed an agreement to acquire part of the vessels. Another portion could go to an investment vehicle managed by Navigare Capital Partners, a Danish maritime investment firm.

The transaction still depends on vessel inspections and final contractual terms. Both parties must complete standard due diligence before closing.

If completed, the deal would transfer ownership of several modern offshore wind support vessels that operate in European wind projects.

Fleet Supports Offshore Wind Operations

Edda Wind operates vessels designed for offshore wind installation and maintenance work.

The ships serve as offshore bases for technicians who maintain wind turbines and related infrastructure. They also support commissioning work during wind farm construction.

The fleet currently includes seven offshore wind vessels. The lineup consists of one SOV and six CSOVs.

The company also has three CSOV newbuild vessels under construction. These vessels will support future offshore wind projects once delivered.

Offshore Wind Vessel Demand Continues to Grow

The potential fleet sale follows a major ownership change at Edda Wind.

A consortium of maritime investors took the company private in June 2025. The group included Geveran Trading, EPS Ventures, and Wilhelmsen New Energy.

Edda Wind was founded in 2015 by Østensjø Group to build a specialized offshore wind vessel fleet.

Demand for offshore wind support vessels continues to grow. Developers are expanding wind projects across Europe and other regions.

A completed sale would strengthen the fleets of existing offshore wind vessel operators and accelerate consolidation in the sector.
