Drone attacks near two major Gulf maritime hubs have raised fresh concerns for shipping and energy infrastructure in the region. The incidents occurred near Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates and Duqm in Oman, both key ports for tanker traffic and oil logistics.

The attacks highlight rising security risks around the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Arabian Sea shipping corridor.

Fire Reported at Fujairah Oil Facility

Drones struck an oil storage installation in Fujairah and triggered a fire at the terminal. Emergency teams responded quickly and contained the blaze within a short time. Authorities confirmed that no injuries occurred.

The facility sits within Fujairah’s large oil storage and bunkering complex. The port serves as one of the world’s leading ship fuel hubs and a major storage point for crude and refined products.

Officials said operators had already suspended activity at the tank facility as a precaution before the strike.

Authorities have not released full details about possible damage. However, the incident briefly disrupted activity around the port’s energy infrastructure. Market participants reported slower bunkering operations following the strike.

Strategic Role of Fujairah for Tanker Trade

Fujairah plays a vital role in global maritime energy supply. The port supports large scale fuel storage, blending operations, and ship refueling services.

Its location outside the Strait of Hormuz allows tankers to store cargo and bunker fuel without entering the narrow waterway. Because of this role, shipping companies closely monitor any security incident near the port.

Drone Activity Reported Near Duqm

Reports also emerged of drone activity near the port of Duqm in Oman on the same day. Authorities said emergency services quickly secured the area. Officials also confirmed that no casualties occurred.

Duqm continues to expand as a major logistics and energy hub along the Arabian Sea. The port hosts refinery projects, industrial zones, and maritime logistics facilities linked to regional oil exports.

Rising Risks for Maritime Infrastructure

The incidents underline growing security threats to maritime energy infrastructure in the Gulf region. Ports, oil terminals, and shipping routes face increasing exposure to drone and missile attacks.

Shipowners and charterers operating in the region now watch developments closely. Further escalation could disrupt tanker traffic, bunkering supply, and marine insurance costs across one of the world’s most important shipping corridors.
